Dallas Trip 2014

Warning: This is a long one!!!

Chad and I went to Dallas for a Valentines weekend getaway! I really wanted to go to IKEA (I've been to the one in Maryland & Atlanta, GA. I wish we had one closer!) and Southfork!! Chad wanted to hit up all the museums in Dallas. He's a political freak!

With our bags packed and our itinerary ready we dropped Reeves off at my parents house and headed out early Friday morning!

(All the states we went through!! I have to say Louisiana's sign wasn't very exciting)

In Dallas, Friday, February 14:

We asked the front desk for a recommendation for a good place to eat for dinner. The guy raved about Texas Land & Cattle. It was AWESOME!!!! We were tired from driving all day so we turned in early.

Saturday, February 15:

We got up early to go to the Sixth Floor Museum (About JFK). The doors opened at 10, we got there 15 minutes before 10 and there was a wait. Once the doors opened, they moved us in pretty fast. The price to get in was $16 each. It's an audio guided tour and you can not take any pictures on the 6th floor. bummer.

It was very interesting! I really enjoyed it and I'm not into history (shocking!). We were able to go to the 7th floor and take pictures....

(This is the view from the 7th floor right above the 6th floor window. The first X is where JFK was first shot and the second X is the fatal shot).

(This picture is made up of small pictures of Jackie, there is one of Jackie made up of JKF too.)

After we toured the 6th floor, we went downstairs to the street where we saw up close the X where JFK was shot and the Grassy Knoll.

A view of the Sixth Floor from the street. They have it set up the way it looked that day....

After we left the Sixth Floor Museum we headed to George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. We got there after lunch and so did everybody in Dallas! There were a ton of people there. We drove around for 20 minutes just to find a place to park! When we went in, we had to go through security, which was STRICT!

It costed $15ish dollars, I can't remember exactly and I can't find it on their website. Plus $7 parking.

We could take as many pictures as we wanted here! Whoop Whoop!
(From (9-11)

(There was an exact replica of Bush's oval office)
Just call him President

After we left the Bush Museum we went to IKEA! We had a list for us, my mom and my grandmother! We spent 2 1/2 glorious hours in there! I could have stayed longer but I could tell I was loosing Chad quickly!

After our busy day we were pretty tired. We just wanted to find something good to eat and go back to the hotel. That was easier said than done. Nothing we saw really sounded good. Chad was on a mission to find a place we had never eaten before. I just wanted food! We stopped at one place (no idea what the name was) that sounded awesome to me but Chad didn't see anything he wanted so we left. Finally he just stopped the car and said we are eating here. Our good moods were quickly turning sour.
Mooyah has the best hamburgers ever! It turned out to be an awesome stop! We got milkshakes for our drive back to the hotel that were amazing!

When we got home we face timed with our favorite 2 year old!

We turned in early. We were actually in bed by 9 the whole weekend. We are very old!

Sunday, February 16:

Sunday we woke up early and headed to Southfork! I wanted to be on the first tour of the day! In case you've been living under a rock, south fork is where the show Dallas is filmed! I was too young to watch the first one but I'm really into the 2nd one! The actors were actually in Dallas filming. We didn't see anybody though. boo. The tour was $13.50 a person. Which I think was worth every penny. They tell you all kinds of interesting info about the farm.

Ready to start the tour!

(The famous house)

Every time people asked if we watched the show, Chad was quick to say, "She does, I do not!".  He wanted to know he didn't watch the show.

I could have walked around Southfork for hours, which we did walk around for a long while.

We had reservations to go to Medieval Times for dinner. Our reservation was at 7:30, and they said to get there 75 minutes early. Yes, 75 minutes. So we went back to the hotel to rest up for our big night!

This was the most silly thing I've ever done! It was super fun but VERY expensive! We picked the Valentine's package that was $120 per couple. We thought that we would spend much once we got inside. WRONG. We spent another $80-$100 on drinks and souvenirs.

We were on the green team. You cheered for your knight and boo'd for the other knights! It was fun! You don't get utensils so you have to eat with your fingers. The food was so-so. The chicken was good but I wasn't a fan of anything else. Our guy lost in the first round, boo.

Medieval Times was right across the street from our hotel. So we just walked home. It was such a beautiful weekend!

Monday, February 17:

Time to head home!!! We got up early because Chad wanted to stop in Little Rock at William J. Clinton Presidential Museum.

Since that day was President's Day, we didn't have to pay to get in! Which was good because of traffic we didn't have much time to stay.

(They also had an exact replica of Bill Clinton's oval office!)

We rode the little golf cart down the street to the store.

We were only Little Rock for an hour. Can anybody else go through a presidential library and store in an hour? Beat that!! We were ready to be home and we REALLY missed Reeves!
My mom met us at our house with Reeves! We couldn't have been happier to see each other! Reunited and it feels so good (put that to music).

We had an awesome couple's weekend. When can we go back???
