Dixie queen partner in Crime! Let me tell ya little about myself....

Hi Ya'll! I'm Ashley Sprinkle Henry!

Sorry I'm a little behind! My computer DIED! No worries... Just got another one
So glad to be apart of this awesome blogging world now!!!

I'm a very loud, goofy, quirky, annoyingly happy, and out going Southerner who loves my god, family, friends, dogs, career, and my life that I have been undeservingly blessed with..

I have a wonderful husband who is Very handy! We have been together for 9 years this past january and have been happily married for three years this march!
He's a fireman and runs his business of laying tile and marble. The man is good at everything he sets his mind too. We got married March 26, 2011 on a very cold and wet day. It was not ideal but it was perfect to me. I am very lucky to have found my soul mate. Plus he's cute to boot!! I think I'll keep him around a while! ;)

We bought our first home August 2013, and every minute has been an Adventure!
And boy does it need work.... It was a foreclosure, so we got a great deal on it.
I have a lot of tender love and care I plan to put into this wonderful home of ours. And, I can't wait for my new blogging friends to be apart of it!

Signing the papers for our house! So exciting!!

Angelica is a full blooded pit bull she's my seven year old baby.

Marlowe is a mix between pit bull and boxer and will be one in august, she is such a joy.

I'm very dedicated to my career as a Dental Hygienist, I love it!!!
Just me doing my thing! LOL

My heart jumps for joy for all things creative be it cooking, crafting, decorating, gardening, or sewing. I just love it.

I'm a music junky.....
I'm a southerner to my core, if you were to stop by my home I would do the frantic running cleaning dance and doing my darndest to clean my house in minutes..... My house is very much lived in, it is not immaculate by no means. I would fix a drink, ask you if you were hungry. Make yourself at home and take a load off.
I've never met a stranger!
I embrace my life and enjoy it everyday!!!

Shelby and I have been friends since High School and have been very large parts of every major life event since! Her and I are lucky to have each other!

Welcome to our world!!!!

Shutters & Door

I want to paint our front door! It's just beige! How boring is that??? This is what it looks like....

Isn't that boring? I think the only way to paint a fun door is to paint the shutters a neutral color!

I decided either brown or black would be best! I don't want the shutters and door competing against each other!

These are TERRIBLE examples but I think you'll get the picture!

(I think I would use a darker brown)

I decided on black. I just like the way it looks! :)

Now to deicide on the door! Which is where you come in! I need help!

Here are the colors to choose from... They aren't exactly the color... just an example of what it could be... it will be in the same color family....

Gray

Red

Turquoise

Orange

Yellow

Green

Write a comment and tell me which one you like best!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm Addicted... To Chalkboard Paint.

Who created chalkboard paint? I looked it up, couldn't find anybody to praise! Anywho, I'm addicted. I love the stuff! I have seriously painted WAY too many things with chalkboard paint.

Seriously, too many things....

In the kitchen, This was the first and what started my addiction! This wall separating the living room and the kitchen. Doesn't it look like it just calling for a chalkboard to make grocery lists?!

Ta-Da!

We made a chalkboard for the backyard. Reeves loves it! We made right before his 2nd birthday and he uses it every time we go outside. It's a lot of fun!

Reeves kept drawing on the side of the cabinet, beside his chalkboard. I decided to paint it too... Chad wasn't 100% on board (this is a reoccurring thing in our house). He was worried about permanently painting the side of our cabinet. I figured if we ever sold the house, that it was for the next owners to worry about!  I got all set up and painted it. The paint dried perfectly.
I cleaned up and let Reeves go at it. This is what happened....
It all peeled off. Annoying. I didn't sand it. So I started over, this time lightly sanding it before I painted it again. Now its perfect! Reeves LOVES it! Its the perfect height for him... its like his own little board. I also use it to write birthday messages on for family!
Worked like a charm.  Oh, and when I said its perfect for birthday messages, I didn't mean Reeves' liked it! I've sent tried to send every family member a birthday picture this year and Reeves has looked MISERABLE in every picture! Whatevs.

I painted one wall in our master bathroom. The wall right in front of the toilet. Chad and I can write sweet nothings to each other. Which we do! I stay up much later than he does and he wakes up much earlier than I do, so we use this to write each other little notes! I also painted that little room a bright blue!
(Words to a song)

See what I mean? Chalkboard paint addict right here. The first step is admitting it, right?

Did You Say Pink Wall?

Reeves was going to my parents house one weekend so I decided it would be a perfect time to paint an accent wall in our living room. I searched Pinterest for ideas and came up with a moroccan design like THIS or THIS.

I found a design I liked on google and made a stencil out of poster board.

Then came the hard part. I decided when I started this project that I wanted to use the same coral color I used on the TV stand. Chad wasn't sold. He kept saying, "You're painting the whole wall pink?". He has no creative vision! Actually, everybody I told had something to say about using pink! Jeez people. Give me some credit. All I can think about is Shelby from Steel Magnolias saying: "My colors are blush and bashful. I have chosen two shades of pink. One is much darker than the other!" Know your colors people.

Anyway, I've learned its best people see what I'm talking about rather than try to explain it to them!

I first used a pencil and drew around the stencil. I taped a small level to the stencil to make sure the stencil was straight. Don't worry, I still messed it up and didn't realize until I was completely done. oh well.

At a random trip to Lowes I stumbled across Valspar Paint Crystals, I bought them for another project but didn't end up using them! I knew they would be perfect for this job. The man at Lowes warned me not to add all of it to the whole gallon. He said the crystals would settle and you'd never see them. I added a little of the crystals as I went. It turned out great! You can only see the crystals when the sun is shining on the wall. And it just gives the wall a shimmering effect. I don't even think Chad knows they are there. If I had told him I was painting the wall coral and adding glitter... He would have forbid me to do my project!

It only took 3 hours!

Notice that once the furniture was back in place, the wall becomes an accent. You know it's there but its not all you see! Chad even gave his stamp of approval.

Addition:

Chad cut out these picture frames from plywood. I printed 11x14 pictures from Walgreens. They are PEEL AND STICK STICKERS! How cool is that?!

Blue Vanity

As you know, I painted Reeves' bathroom sunshine yellow! I loved the color and brightness! There are no windows in there so no natural light (bummer!). A bathroom that small needs to be bright!

The vanity stuck out like a sore thumb! It was brown and I hated it!

Lets not forget to mention the missing knob and broken toilet paper holder!

The stupid toilet paper holder was the worst part of the whole project! The screws were 2 miles long and were put in crooked!

The next step was to pick a color.

The first one (left) is Valspar Hang Ten.
The middle one is an oops paint from Lowe's, I got a gallon for $5. I love oops paint!
The last one (right) is Gladden Robin's Egg.

I sent that picture to my mom & Chad for their input. I had already decided on Robin's Egg, but they both wrote back to go with Hang Ten! My mom said, if you're going to do it blue, go BLUE!

Next I lightly sanded everything. I didn't want my hard work peeling off!!! Sorry about the picture of the doors.

I usually don't prime the things I paint (I'm too impatient for that!) but I only had a sample of the my paint (Thanks to Sweet Grass.. I would spend a ton of money on paint if it wasn't for Sweet Grass!!). I didn't want to waste any of it!

I got a little excited and painted the first coat of blue too early. The primer hadn't quite dried, so I just painted the front then stopped.

The next day I painted a 3rd coat (1 coat primer, 2 coats paint) on the vanity and set off to take all the knobs, pulls and the towel holder off the wall to spray paint.

This is the spray paint I used.

I did 3 coats of the spray paint and 1 coat of the clear. I was afraid the paint of the knobs would eventually clip. The clear coat should protect it from chipping!!

Don't you just love brass knobs?? NOT!

Here are some pictures of the vanity after it was painted but before it dried!
I painted a little picture frame, see it?

Maybe I should have cleaned under the counter!
I love the blue & yellow together!!!!!!

O. M. G. I love it!!! Don't you?? Now I just need to clean up, touch up, and put things back where it goes!
