Colors, To date updates, and Etc.

So... I know that it has been a minute since we have posted...

My sweet shelby and I have been Super busy lately!
We apologize!!

I do want to take a minute... And ask Everyone to pray for those that have recently been effected by the deadly and devasting tornadoes ......

This post I'm showing you all my
to - date
updates, on our Hizzy!
LOL!

We put a LOT of work into it. Although... This winter was such a long and hard winter... I think we just hibernated for a while until it warmed up some b/c we did very few updates during the cold winter months!
But, boy are we back at it!!!
Some that has not been completed yet... I can't wait to show yall when they are!!

Let's Get Started!!!

We'll start with the craft room First.... Because I need your Help!!
I haven't done a whole lot with the craft room yet. I've merely got them organized. I have a lot of plans for my craft room... But, that will require my hand dandy husband putting up shelving, peg boards, and building me a table... In due time...
I have my main table in front of my window. I can see my beautiful deck, peaceful trees, and my pond... Which I'm hoping will induce a ton of creative ideas.... Ha ha!
We'll See!!

Here is my pickle... I can't seem to pick a stinking color for my craft room!!
My closest friends know... I am a YELLOW fan... But, I love the blue.. But, I think I may have too much of that working through out my home... That peachy pink color... Is in the work for another room at the moment... Therefore... I may have too much of that as well... Leaving my favorite color... Yellow...

What do you think????

Moving on.......

My
*KITCHEN*
It turned out exactly how I wanted...
Schockingly...

It was a TON of work....
I (the hubs helped some) he he!
It was A LOT of SANDING... I used a power sander with a medium grit.
I bought a Ton of KILZ spray cans. Personally I felt like I wouldn't get the drip markings you sometimes get with brushing paint.

I then used a satin finished white spray cans again... Not for everyone. Again, I felt like I wouldn't get the brush runs.
I only sanded the doors... I just used KILZ on the actual cabinets.
I was told to put a glaze on top.... When I was finishing these, I had signed up to throw my future sister in law a baby shower for my perfect neice...
Time caught up to me... So... we didn't get the glaze on. Looking at the door now. I can tell you if your going to put the time into it put the glaze on the first time. I will eventually have to put it on.
I also recommend doing it outside!!!

It was hard work and time consuming... But, I love it!!!

On to the Living Room

Ok... Our house was FULL of BEAUTIFUL custom trim, wainscotting, and crown molding.......
I Hated IT!!!
So... I did what any normal person would do..... NOT!!!
I decided I would SAND every bit of Trim, Wainscotting, and Crownmolding....
For the LOVE OF PETE... Someone should have slapped me!
Talk about WORK!
I thought I gave my father a heart attack... He came in and said I broke every wood workers heart sanding down all of that beautiful wood!
..........Oh well........
Anyways.....
I actually had to do the majority of the sanding and painting in the living room ...
BY MYSELF!

You see! When we moved in... Our deck's baluster’s were not up to “Code” and insurance would not cover it, we had 30 days from the day we signed the papers to have the baluster’s replaced and 4 inches apart.
So needless to say he was busy!!

I could NOT use an electric sander for the majority of the trim due to the detail.
UGHHHHH!!!!!

Ok... I feel better!

Though the struggle was Real ya'll !!
The end result again was really...
Magnificent!!! (Well I thought so)

I loveee My Fire Place.......... NOW....
It looks much more difficult that it actually is...

I White washed my Fire place. It speaks for itself!
BEAUTIFUL!

p.s. It's super easy...

WARNING:
If you plan to do this.... Do NOT plan to stay clean.
YOU NEED: White Paint, Water, Gloves, Paint brush, and a dry cloth ( you never plan to use again)

I got a bucket that you get at lowe's to carry your paint with you in.
~I filled it a quarter of the way with White paint.
~ I filled another quarter with water.
I then dipped my brush in the mixture. Painted a big sloppy amount onto the brick
Then blot off with dry towel.
That's it!

So.....

Here is the deck my awesome husband re-did! He's awesome! I know!

I hope you've enjoyed tonight's post!
Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions!

I have been on a health kick lately... I've recently lost 6 lbs... I've been trying throughout the week to Eat Clean...
I've made a Weekly menu... I'm thinking about posting

*Our First Home*

There are soooo many things I want to share through this blog of ours...
I've been on over load lately trying to figure out a timeline.

So I figured I would start with our Home!

Ok so... Parts of it are pretty rough on the fore front... But, Hey! That's what makes it fun! Right?!?

Our house is on a 4.5 acre lot full of trees and a pond.
It is a 3 bedroom (that I hope we can expand to a 4 one day) 1800 sq. ft house, a screened in porch with an attached deck. It's very southern!! Fits the hubby and I so well!

I love the front of our home! Not a fan of all the crazy greenery... But, I'll cover that on another day! (I'm pretty excited about it!)

My forest of a back yard! LOL....
I love the openness but, that changes quickly                                                      due to my sweet fat girl (angelica)!
I actually told my handy hubby I wouldn't move in until we had a fence up! LOL

He was wonderful! The hubby rustled up
help from some awesome friends and family and got right on it!
My brother and handsome husband

We have a screened in porch that leads out on to our large deck that looks out on to my backyard!

My deck over looks my large backyard and pond that I'm in love with!

That looks amazing actually... I had just cleaned up the large amount of high grass and greenery! It was a mess!!!!

The fat girl loves it!

It all needs a lot of tender, love, and care! But, it's ours and we love it!!!!

    Onto the
Inside!!!

First up is my Entry Way

I had 5 things that were my “Must have's” in a house.
  • Dining Room
  • Jacuzzie Tub in master bath
  • Connected/ Open kitchen and living room ( I didn't get that but, compromised with 4.5 acre yard)
  • Backyard big enough for our dogs (Score!!!)
  • Fireplace in living room

Now my kitchen and breakfast nook are UGLY!
No worries though.... I make it beautiful!

On to the Bedrooms!!!

It's so nice to have a Guest bedroom, when friends or family come in town to have that space for them!

]

Ooooooo Weeee! That bathroom looks like it needs to be completely remodeled....
In a later blog! I will show that it is not just the case! It turns out just beautiful!!!

My Craft room looks out on to my deck and pond! A very inpirational view!

And then there's the Master bed and bath
Prepare yourself! That master bath is Atrocious!

We have  soooo much work to do in that ugly bathroom!!!
Luckily! My husband is a Tile man!!! whoop whoop!!!

There it is ya'll!!!
Stay tuned for a TONNNNN of updates and renovation's!!!

To Do List....

There are so many things I want to do around our house. I thought I'd make a list of everything that we are planning on doing in the near future. Something easy fixes are going to be done before this MISSISSIPPI SUMMER hits.

Here we go....

1. The shutters and front door...

As you know we decided to paint the shutters black and drum roll please... we decided on turquoise for the front door color. We have narrowed it down to 4 colors. The samples have been on the door for a few days and we think we've picked our color. To be honest Chad is a little nervous. We will probably paint the shutters then decide on the front door color.

Before we narrowed it down. We just went to lowes and picked out all the blues we liked. It was a little overwhelming but we could tell the ones we didn't like right off.

These are the ones we were left with.

You can see the shutter & front door problems HERE.

2. Strip, stain and paint the kitchen table...

We bought our kitchen table a year ago for $50. I planned to strip it, stain it and paint it right away.... but a year has gone by and it still looks the exact same way. I really want to do this project before it gets too hot since I'll have to be outside the whole time.

I want to strip the top of the table and the seats of the chairs and stain them a rich brown. Then I want to paint the bottom of the table and legs of the chairs. I either want to do a creamy white or a green. I haven't decided yet.

3. New coat of paint...

Our WHOLE house is beige. beige. beige. beige. I'm sick of beige. Other than the color, the walls just look dirty. And I don't mean dirty like I don't clean, I mean dirty like we've bumped furniture into them, Reeves has handprints going up the stairs (I could probably wash them off, but they are just too cute to me. Issues, I know), and just normal day to day wear.  I want to go with a light airy gray. We'll have to do room by room but I can't wait to start.  Hopefully we'll be able to start in the living room, kitchen, hall and stairway soon.

See Reeves's hand prints?

Stupid baby gates have done the most damage to my walls!!!

What is all that???

4. Stairs and trim...

Before we bought the house, it was repainted. Which we thought was awesome. But now that we have been in the house for 2 years it shows they didn't take their time and do the job correctly. They repainted the trim & rail on the stairs but they didn't sand it first so all that paint has started chipping off. It looks horrible!

5. Dining room...

I want to paint the dining room. I can't decide on the color. I think thats a reoccurring thing around here. The only problem is the walls are textured so I couldn't do any kind of straight line...bummer.

6. Grout...

All the grout in our house looks horrible. I have a plan. It's a surprise. It's coming soon!

7. Backyard...

We luckily have a HUGE backyard! It's awesome. But it's mostly bare! We need to bring our backyard to life! I want to do a pergola with a big deck. I also want to plant a small garden. I'm talking big plans!!!

Ignore the weeds. It's been to wet to cut the grass. Chad is doing it this weekend... I PROMISE!

8. The guest room...

Hopefully one day our guest room will be a nursery.... so I've never been too concerned with decorating it. Well, I'm officially tired of the mixed-matched furniture. It's time for a makeover!!! Again, I have plans!!!

9. Playroom...

Reeves's playroom/mom's craft room needs major help!!!! It's not working anymore. We have BIG dreams for that room and the attic thats attached to it. Stay tuned!!

10. Master...

Our master bedroom and bath needs a complete makeover!!! Worse than any other room in our house. It's the less decorated room in our house. It looks like collage kids live in there! I'm hoping to change that very soon!!!

I had pictures inserted here... but they were just too embarrassing!

11. Dishwasher...

Our stove (that came with the house) is black and the fridge (which we brought) is stainless steel. I think they work fine together. BUT THE DISHWASHER IS WHITE! And it's terrible!! It's very old! We need a new one in a horrible way!

12. The boring hall...

It's long and boring but it sees a lot of traffic. You can access the garage, half bath, laundry room and master! I made a photo wall outside of the laundry... which I love but I'm kind of over the colors I painted the frames. I think if they were all the same color (white) it would look better. I'm also thinking of adding some detail to the bottom of the walls. Something like THIS.

This picture is very blurry... sorry crappy iPhone picture! :)

13. New glass on the front door...

Our front door is big and beautiful, but like the rest of our house has gold accents!! I want to take the existing glass out and put new glass in. I'm thinking just solid glass.

14. Gold! Gold! Gold!

Every doorknob, knob, pull, light fixture, fan, EVERYTHING is gold! We have slowly started spray painting the knobs a satin nickel with I LOVE!!! But, we have a lot more to do! The fixtures in our house are very high end and could be very beautiful, if you can get over the gold. I really don't want to replace them. I'm planning on spray painting it all!!!! bahahaha (insert evil laugh)

15. Ceiling stains...

Reeves's bathroom is right above the living room. When we moved in there was a small stain on the ceiling. We really didn't think that much of it because the inspector said it was fine. Well, a few months later the stain got bigger. We eventually figured out there was a HOLE in the tub which was leaking. The previous owners just cheaply patched it and the patch had come off. We had it professionally fixed. Problem solved.

THEN, the toilet overflowed. GROSS. We had 4 overnight guests and well, things happen.

Now the stain is HUGE and needs to be painted.

That's it. That is our my to do list for the next few months (and couple of years for some things). Stay tuned to see the progress! I'm hoping to start a few tutorials on somethings very soon!!!
